UPDATE: Registration is now closed. Please submit an interest form to be contacted the next time this class is offered!

As many of you know, I’ve been through a LOT of pain and suffering in my life. I’ve created a class to share some of the information and practical exercises that have helped me the most during my healing journey.

Thursdays at 10am PST / 1pm EST
August 27-October 15, 2020
Each class is 45 minutes, via Google Meet

Practices for Healing

Each class will include education and practical exercises you can put into practice right away to help relieve stress and release shame.

Session 1: The Brain’s Trauma Responses. “Our brains are wired for connection, but trauma rewires them for protection.” We’ll take a look at fight-flight-freeze-appease/fawn responses and what to do when we’re triggered.

Session 2: Attachment and Relationship Templates. “I am here because I want to be helpful to my pain.” We’ll take a brief look at attachment and how our relationships with our first caregivers are impacting us now, and learn a simple self-care exercise.

Session 3: Understanding Shame. “I just want to be loved and to belong.” Shame is universal but it is temporary. We’ll learn a bit about the function of shame and learn what to do when we’re overcome by it.

Session 4: Noticing and Naming. “Naming it creates distance so we can deal with it.” We’ll learn about noticing our thoughts, emotions, and body signals, and learn a self-compassion exercise.

Session 5: Envisioning the Compassionate Other. “Who would you want to have with you if you pooped your pants?” Yes, we have to approach this with some humor! We’ll explore who our ideal compassionate person might be, and how harnessing our imagination can help us get unstuck.

Session 6: Envisioning the Compassionate Self. “What would you say to your younger self?” We’ll spend time imagining our most compassionate selves and walk through an exercise to extend kindness.

Session 7: Speaking to the Inner Critic. “Thanks, but no thanks.” We’ll reflect on our inner critic and their (perhaps misguided) attempts to be helpful. We’ll end with another practical exercise that will strengthen our integrity and lovingkindness.

Session 8: Wrap-up and questions. We’ll celebrate breakthroughs and explore remaining questions from the group.

Space is limited to 24 people. Just $160 for all 8 weeks of class!
